Situated on a hillside, full of evergreen woods and pockets of rich pasture
where fine cattle grazed, was a Ping Pong playground converted from a
warehouse. Its ceiling was composed of translucent glass windows that
diffused and scattered sunlight to give players a feeling of brightness and
softness.
............. It seemed to him that he was exposed to the game for the first time in his life. Behind the game being shown in his presence he sensed the world of mind, the power of mind-body unification and the joy-giving harmony of control and freedom. He saw in those moments his emotions and the environment guided, and ordered by the spirit of the game ... ............. While I listened to Rich's theory on cooperation, I felt surrounded by the scholar's atmosphere. Vivid memories arose of my own ISP adventures, with the struggle and stress I endured in the early days along with other memories of the renewed intimate relations with Evans, the wound inflicted by the dot- com bubble burst and the healing by Nun Anonymous. How well this courageous and knowledgeable scholar as well as entrepreneur contrived to fulfill his mission; how his wisdom and compassion had sheltered him from the dot-com crash; how circumscribed, concentrated and firm had the magic of his belief had guarded him from any harm. With a sigh, I tore away from this picture. I myself had gone another way, or rather been led, had been far more constrained and was beholden to go the path of pursuing quick wealth and not to compare it with the ways of others. |
